8 Morning Routine Habits To Start Your Day Right

8 Morning Routine Habits

Okay, guys, buckle up because confession time: I used to be the captain of Team Night Owl. But guess what? I decided to flip the script and become a morning person. Now, I’m here to spill the beans on the morning habits that make me feel like I’ve already conquered the day before it even begins. Ready to join the early riser party? Let’s dive in!

What my morning routine habits looked like:

Alright, let’s dive into the morning saga of my life:

Back in the pre-pandemic era, my creative juices flowed best in the wee hours of the night – midnight to 4 am, to be precise. That was my golden window for writing my book, crafting blogs, and planning the next day’s conquests. Life was good, quiet, and entirely mine until 2020 threw us all a curveball.

Post-lockdown, daytime siestas became a distant dream, and my nocturnal escapades just didn’t cut it anymore.

In those initial pandemic months, my mornings I turned into a whirlwind. Rushing to whip up breakfast for my trio of kiddos, playing dress-up, gearing them up for virtual school – chaos was my middle name. Anxiety took center stage, and I yearned for a change.

I knew the drill needed an overhaul. I craved productivity but was stuck in a cycle of morning madness. The struggle was real.

As a mom of three, proud blog owner, and survivor of the rollercoaster that was 2020 (and now in a blink 2024), I reached a breaking point. It was time for a morning glow-up. I wanted a routine that set the tone for a productive day, but the ‘how’ and ‘when’ were big question marks.

The transition from night owl to early bird felt like an uphill battle, but with each sunrise, I found my rhythm. It was about carving out quiet moments in the morning – my time, untouched by the chaos of family and the outside world.

So, here’s to the sunrise, the coffee-fueled introspection, and the joy of owning my mornings. Because in the end, it’s those precious moments that make the day uniquely mine.

What my morning routine habits look like now:

Here are the things that I manage to get done from 5:00 am to 8:00 am every morning (excluding weekends):

1. Wake up early and don’t hit Snooze:

I used to be the “wake up just in time” pro, sprinting through my mornings like I was in a race. Fast forward to today, and I’ve traded the chaos for one to two glorious hours of quiet time. It’s a whole vibe, people!

Here’s the playbook: I kick off with a glass of water – hydration superhero mode, activate! Then, I resist the tempting glow of my phone for as long as possible. No scrolling, no bright screen shenanigans. It’s a sacred me-time moment. And, oh, the golden rule? Absolutely, positively, no hitting the snooze on the alarm. It’s a game-changer.

And let me tell you, this ritual is a total game-changer. I’ve turned my mornings into a personal oasis, and guess what? I’m absolutely living for it!

Now, armed with this newfound morning mojo, I’ve started crafting personal routines that set my mind on the right track. It’s like my own little secret sauce for owning the day. So here’s to water sips, phone-free moments, the magic of morning routines, and resisting that snooze button – making mornings great again, one hydration break at a time!

2. Avoid checking your phone:

You know it’s a big deal when it makes every list, right? So, here’s the scoop: I decided to give my phone a morning break. No notifications buzzing, no screen glow interrupting my vibe. It’s like my phone is on a mini vacation for an hour, and let me tell you, it’s pure magic.

Why? Because I stumbled upon the wisdom that checking my phone first thing was basically like inviting chaos to my morning party. Who needs the world’s updates flooding your brain before you’ve even had a chance to greet your own thoughts?

Imagine this: No more waking up to the buzzing and beeping of news and notifications. Instead, a peaceful few hours for myself, soaking up the calm before diving into the day. No chaotic media dictating my mind before I’ve even stretched my legs.

Trust me, it’s a game-changer. Try it for yourself, and watch how this simple switch transforms your morning routine. A healthier, happier start to the day? That’s the promise of this no-phone morning ritual magic.

3. Morning Pages:

Gratitude Journaling

Unleash Your Morning Creative Mojo:

You know what’s a secret weapon against negative self-talk? Morning pages! Julia Cameron spilled the beans on this gem in “The Artist’s Way,” and it’s become my daily ritual.

Picture this: I roll out of bed, grab my trusty journal, and let the thoughts flow onto the page. It’s like meditation, but with a pen and paper. Those sneaky subconscious thoughts make a grand entrance, and jotting them down feels like unlocking a treasure chest of creativity.

I aim for a solid 15 to 20 minutes of morning musings – not quite hitting the three pages Julia recommends, but hey, it’s a work in progress. Some days, my mind is a blank canvas, and you know what my first sentence is? “I can’t think of anything today.” And you know what? That’s perfectly okay!

It’s been my morning ritual for a year now, and you bet I’m sticking with it. Forget the social media scroll – swap it for morning pages and watch your day transform. It’s like a creative burst to kickstart your day, and trust me, it’s a game-changer!

4. Meditate: Close the Eyes, Inhale the Chill Vibes:

So, after my morning journaling shindig, here’s the next act – and trust me, it’s a mini-vacation in itself:

I shut my eyes, and it’s all about soaking in those good vibes for no more than five minutes. Deep breaths, my friend!

Picture this: I’m the captain of my thoughts ship. No time travel to the past or future allowed. Nope, we’re steering this ship right where I want it to go. It’s my mental playground, and I get to pick the games.

Now, here’s the golden rule: Don’t stress if your mind decides to take a little detour. It’s like a spontaneous road trip for your thoughts, and that’s absolutely normal. The trick? Just notice, smile, and gently steer back to your chosen focus. It’s like mental gymnastics, but way more chill.

And here’s the fun part: With a dash of consistency, you’ll hit a point where you’re the master of your mind universe. It’s like a mental flex that gets better with practice. Pinky promise, it’s a journey worth taking!

5. My Morning Dance of Hydration and Coffee Bliss:

Alright, here’s the play-by-play of my morning symphony – it’s like a personal ritual that sets the tone for the day:

Post-Meditation Refresh:

First things first, after a zen moment of meditation, it’s hydration station time! I guzzle down a refreshing 500ml cup of lemon-infused water to give my body a wakeup call before the main event – coffee, of course!

Coffee Chronicles in the Kitchen:

Next stop? The kitchen, where coffee dreams come true. I whip up that perfect cup of morning magic and, hold your applause, dive into breakfast-making maestro mode for the fam – all before anything else.

Now, here’s the tea on coffee alternatives: Some legends I know ditched the morning java for this lemon water routine, claiming it’s the ultimate wake-up call. If you’re on that vibe, kudos! But me? Nah, I’m riding the coffee love train way too hard to let it go. ?

Let’s be real, water takes the opening act, but coffee steals the show. It’s a morning dance of hydration and coffee bliss, where water takes the lead, and coffee grooves right along. Cheers to the perfect morning mix!

6. Exercise:

Okay, let’s spill the beans on how I kickstart my mornings – it’s like a personal wake-up call that sets the tone for the day:

Here’s the deal: I’m all about that morning groove, and it comes in the form of a 15 to 30-minute exercise fiesta. Now, I’m no gym guru – I’m a yoga and stretching enthusiast, but your morning dance can be totally different. The key? Just get that blood pumping and let the good vibes flow!

Why is this my secret morning sauce? Because there’s nothing like a burst of activity to tell the day, “I’m up, I’m ready, let’s do this!” It’s not about perfect reps or mastering complex poses; it’s about moving, grooving, and embracing the energy surge.

So, whether you’re a yoga warrior, a stretching sensation, or you’ve got your unique morning dance, just dive in and get that blood flowing. Your day will thank you. Morning magic, activated!

7. Make Your Bed First Thing In The Morning:morning habits

Picture this: Before or after my workout shenanigans, there’s one non-negotiable on the agenda – making my bed. It’s not just a chore; it’s a morning magic trick that sets the vibe for the entire day.

Why is bed-making my secret sauce? Well, it’s like sprinkling positivity and accomplishment on my day from the get-go. There’s something about those perfectly tucked sheets that screams, “You’re ready to conquer the world!”

And the best part? It’s a motivational kick in the pants. Once the bed is a masterpiece, I’m fueled up and ready to dive into the day’s adventures.

Now, here’s the real talk: I used to be a forgetful rebel, skipping this step. But oh boy, once I embraced it as a ritual, there was no turning back. It’s like my morning warm-up – I can’t hit play on my day until the bed is a work of art.

Fast forward to the evening, after all the day’s chaos – walking into a room with a perfectly made bed? It’s a calming sight, a little oasis of order in the daily whirlwind.

So, here’s the morning mantra: Make your bed, make it a masterpiece, and watch how this tiny effort ripples positivity into your entire day. Trust me, it’s a morning habit that’s absolutely worth the extra few minutes. Bed-making magic, activated!

8. Morning Glow-Up: Fresh, Fab, and Ready to Conquer!

Let’s dive into the magic that happens post-workout – a routine that’s like a personal pep talk for the day ahead:

Shower, Dress, Slay:

Here’s the golden rule: You haven’t unlocked the full potential of feeling fantastic until you’ve showered, dressed snazzy, and maybe dabbed on a bit of makeup – whatever floats your fabulous boat. Trust me, it’s a game-changer.

So, post my workout, cue a quick and refreshing shower – the ultimate reset button. Step one, check! Now, my facial cleanser joins the party, and the skincare fiesta begins. Ten minutes of self-love, and my face is ready to face the world.

Now, the grand finale – getting dressed for the day. This step is a superhero move, especially when your office is your home, and the outside world might not see your fabulous self. Been there, done that – from one pajama set to another, until I realized it was time for a change.

Dressing up, fixing my hair – it’s become a non-negotiable part of my daily routine. And guess what? The same rule applies to the kiddos. Let’s be clear – dressing nicely doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort. Your style, your rules. Just fix yourself up a bit, and voilà, the mood lifts!

Flash forward to 7:30 am – I’m all set, feeling fresh, relaxed, and like I’ve already aced the day. Breakfast prep with the kiddos kicks in, online school gears up, and the day unfolds. And yes, the secret sauce is this morning glow-up routine. Try it, and thank me later!

These are some great tips. I’ve learnt to keep my phone out of my bedroom at night. It gives me that motivation to get up and ready in the mornings so that I can then check my phone. Having a good morning routine in place can make your whole day so much better.
